AN ORDINANCE OF THE WILKINSON COUNTY COMMISSIONERS FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROHIBITING THE FISHING OR DIVING FROM BRIDGES ON COUNTY ROADS, TO PROVIDE FOR FINES FOR VIOLATIONS OF THIS ORDINANCE AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
WITNESSTH:
WHEREAS: There are numerous bridges in Wilkinson County on various county roads, and
WHEREAS: Many of said bridges are narrow and require additional diligence by motorists when crossing said bridges, and
WHEREAS: The Wilkinson County Commissioners have determined that there is an undue danger presented to motorists by persons who fish or dive from said bridges; and there is a danger posed to those who may fish or dive from said bridges, and
WHEREAS: The Wilkinson County Commissioners believe it is in the best interest of the public to prohibit such activities;
NOW, therefore, be it resolved by the Wilkinson County Commissioners that shall be unlawful for any person to use any bridge, the purpose of diving into or fishing from any stream, creek, or river which runs under said bridge.
- Any person who violates tile provisions of this ordinance shall be subject to the imposition of a fine for such offense, not to exceed the sum of one hundred ($100.00) dollars.
- The Magistrate Court of Wilkinson County, Georgia shall he vested with the jurisdiction and authority for the trial of such offenses and imposition of such fines as are authorized in this ordinance.
- All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed.
- This ordinance shall become effective Immediately upon its enactment
So ordained this 17th day of November 1987 by the Wilkinson County Board of Commissioners.
