AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF WILKINSON
COUNTY. PROVIDING FOR THE REGULATION OF THE CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES
IN PUBLIC STREETS, PUBLIC PARKING LOTS; TO PROVIDE PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS OF
SAID ORDINANCE, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Wilkinson
County, Georgia, pursuant to the authority of O.C.G.A. §36-1-20, and it
is hereby resolved by authority of same, as follows:
- It shall be unlawful for any person to drink, consume, transport, carry or
possess any alcoholic beverage, except in the original package and with the
seal unbroken, on the public street, sidewalk, parkway, public parking lot
or semipublic parking lot. The term "semi-public parking lot"
shall include any area wherein motor vehicles are parked by the public in
conjunction with any business, enterprise, commercial establishment, office
building or apartment building.
- Jurisdiction over the prosecution of any such offenses shall be in the
Magistrate Court of Wilkinson County, Georgia.
- Any person convicted of consumption of alcoholic beverage on public
streets or parking areas shall be punished by payment of a fine not
exceeding $500.00 or imprisonment in the County Jail for a term not
exceeding sixty (60) days, or both.
- All ordinances or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Enacted this 6th day of August 1985 by the
Wilkinson County Board of Commissioners.
