Wilkinson County and the Cities of Allentown, Danville, Gordon, Irwinton, Ivey, McIntyre, Toomsboro Location Strategically located in the “Historic Heartland” of Georgia 1.5 hours from Atlanta’s Hartsfield International Airport 2 hours from Savannah ’s Airport and Shipping Port Transportation Ground – Less than 30 minutes from I-16 connecting with I-75 and I-95; Less than 1 hours from I-20 East-West from Augusta to Atlanta and points west. U.S. Highway 441 and GA Highway 57, which will become part of the Fall-Line Freeway system, provide additional transportation routes. Air – 30 minutes from Macon ’s Lewis B. Wilkinson County is known for its great hunting, whether it be deer, wild turkey, quail, dove or wild hogs. The Oconee River forms the eastern boundary of Wilkinson County and provides boating and fishing in a pristine atmosphere. Bear Camp Lake is just outside of Irwinton. Our strategic location in the middle of the state offers easy access to coastal beaches and the North Georgia Mountains. Cultural Downtown Toomsboro is an antebellum walk back in time. Beaver Creek Festival brings artisans and craftsmen to Ivey each November. Wilkinson County ’s Historical Society endeavors to find and preserve our heritage. The Gordon Depot Museum is the city’s museum as well as the museum for the Central Georgia Railroad. Gordon BetterHomeTown organizes an annual July 4th festival and Halloween related activities.
