EDUCATION... The Wilkinson County schools were recently recognized by the Governor's Office of Student Achievement for being named one of Georgia's 20 Outperforming School Districts for 2004-05. Wilkinson County Middle School received the Single Statewide Accountability System bronze award. The Warriors have a State Championship basketball team, three times region runners-up boys tennis team and a region runners-up girls tennis team, as well as a brand new athletic facility. Wilkinson County is also home to the Heart of Georgia Technical College Adult Education Facility, as well as two public libraries. Our residents also have the advantage of being less than 35 minutes away from four four-year institutions, including Macon State College and Mercer University in Macon, Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville and the Dublin University Center in Dublin. Wilkinson County is also only 30 minutes away from two Technical Colleges, Heart of Georgia Technical College in Dublin and Middle Georgia Technical College in Macon. Wilkinson
