MISSION...
The Development Authority of Wilkinson County's mission is to assist
in the retention and expansion of existing industries, and to foster
additional employment opportunities by attracting and recruiting new
business and industry to Wilkinson County .
LOCATION...
Wilkinson County is the hub of several major highways including the
newly four-laned U.S. Highway 441 Heritage Corridor, the GA Highway
112 Scenic Bypass, and GA Highways 57,18, 243. Wilkinson County is
also minutes off of I-16 connecting with I-75 and I-95; Less than 1
hours from I-20 East-West from Augusta to Atlanta and points west.
The new Fall Line Freeway will intersect the northern portion of the
County.
LEADERSHIP...
Wilkinson County was recently named a 2006 County of Excellence by
Georgia Trend Magazine, evidence of the outstanding leadership that
is characteristic of the County. With seven municipalities within
its boundaries, Wilkinson has a strong sense of community, coupled
with a spirit of partnership to address county-wide issues, such as
planning and development.
CHARACTER...
Wilkinson County is a rural county rich in history, especially the
Civil War, the Central Georgia Railroad and colorful local history.
A visit to local establishments gives you not only a taste of local
hospitality and cooking, but also the flavor of the everyday South.
OPPORTUNITY...
Though steeped in history, Wilkinson County is set to forge ahead.
With things like the imminent construction of the Fall Line Free Way
and the coming establishment of a state park at Ball's Ferry in
Wilkinson County, the horizon for economic development is bright.
