Toomsboro, a town bounded on its east side by Commissioner Creek, has a rich history dating back to the Civil War. Stories are told of small groups of local Confederate defenders holding off Union troops associated with General Sherman's famous March to the Sea.
 Today, Toomsboro is home to a small community of just under seven hundred citizens.
