NOTICE: Wilkinson County Court House closed on January 1, 2024
In observance of the New Year Holiday, the Wilkinson County Court House will be closed Monday, January 1.

CALL FOR SPECIAL ELECTION TO FILL UNEXPIRED TERM OF CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
To be published in a newspaper of appropriate circulation- O.C.G.A. 21-2-2(3)
Notice is hereby given that, in accordance with O.C.G.A. 21-2-540, a special election shall be held in Wilkinson County to fill the vacancy in the office of Chairman of the Board, caused by the death of the Honorable Royce Brewer. The Special will be held on March 12, 2024.
- Qualifying for the special election shall be held at with the prospective parties beginning at 9:00 am on January 2, 2024, and ending at 3:00 pm on January 5, 2024.
- The qualifying fee shall be $234.00 pursuant to O.C.G.A. 21-2-131
- All persons who are not registered to vote and who desire to register to vote in the special election may register through the close of business on February 12, 2024.
- Early voting will be held at the Wilkinson County Courthouse during normal business hours. The dates of early voting will be February 19- March 8, 2024
- Polls will be open from 7:00am until 7:00pm on Election Day. Should a runoff be required, such runoff will be held on April 9, 2024.

NOTICE: Courthouse Closure
Courthouse will be closing early on December 22, 2023 at 12:30pm and will be closed on December 25th and December 26th. We will open again on December 27, 2023 at 8am.
NOTICE: accepting applications for Transit Driver (position filled as of 7/29/2025)
The Wilkinson County Board of Commissioners is currently accepting applications for the following position in the Rural Transit System: TRANSIT DRIVER
- This is a full-time position.
- Applicants must possess a valid Georgia drivers’ license
- Be able to operate a transit van along with an acceptable driving record, skills in public relations, some mathematical knowledge.
- Other skills and knowledge are applicable as outlined in the Wilkinson County Transit Driver job description.
- Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Applications are available in the Wilkinson County Board of Commissioners office located at 100 Bacon Street, Irwinton, GA 31042 and on the county website at https://wilkinsoncounty.net.

The Wilkinson County Recreation Department will be accepting bids on the following County Project:
- Renovation of men and women restrooms to include replacement of toilets, sinks, and painting
- Replacement of roof on concession stand and restrooms
Work will be done to facilities located at 200 Ballpark Road, Gordon, GA 31031. The successful bidder will submit a certificate of workers comp. and liability insurance when the bid is awarded. A Residential Contractors license for the state of Georgia will be required.

NOTICE: seeking Firefighter Recruitment and Retention Coordinator (filled as of 1/16/2024)
The Wilkinson County Board of Commissioners seeks to fill the position of a Firefighter Recruitment and Retention Coordinator.
Duties will include, but will not be limited to:
- Recruit individuals for volunteer firefighters by working with local organizations and school system
- Put in place programs to retain firefighters
- Coordinate initial and ongoing training opportunities for new and existing firefighters
- Researches and writes grants for additional funding for fire department; complete additional paperwork needed to maintain grant
- Recommends policy and procedure changes to improve department efficiency
- Plans for disaster drills and county emergencies
- Coordinate as needed with FEMA and GEMA for needed resources and services
- Other duties listed in complete job description
Minimum Training and/or Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in emergency management, emergency services, fire prevention and suppression, or a related field along with five years of responsible experience in fire suppression. Or any equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and experience which provides the requisite skills, knowledge, and abilities of the position.
- Possess a valid Georgia Motor Vehicle Operator’s license needed to operate vehicle or equipment being operated
- Maintain all needed fire and emergency management certifications
