L & A Testing, Computation & Canvassing and Absentee Voting For the April 9, 2024 Runoff for Special Election for Chairman of Board of Commissioners

Pursuant to O.C.G.A & 21.2-379.6 (c) notice is hereby given that the logic and accuracy testing on the voting equipment that will be used in the April 09 2024, Runoff for Special Election for Chairman of BOC in Wilkinson County will be publicly performed in the Board of Elections and Registrations office 100 Bacon Street Irwinton, Ga. 31042.  Testing on all voting equipment will begin on Thursday March 21,  2024 beginning at 10 am and will continue from day to day until completed.  Members of the public are invited to observe the preparation and testing of all equipment to be used.   The election supervisor and registrar/clerk and staff will conduct testing.  Pursuant to O.C.G.A & 21-2-492 Computation, canvassing, and certification of election results will begin on Wednesday April 10, 2024 unless otherwise posted and will continue from day to day until complete.

The last date to request an absentee ballot for the April runoff to vote in the April 09, 2024, Runoff for Special Election for Chairman of BOC is March 29, 2024. Advance Voting (in-person will begin on Monday April 1, 2024 thru Friday April 5, 2024 at 9am-5pm at the Wilkinson County Courthouse. Election Day voting is Tuesday April 9, 2024 at 7:00a.m to 7:00 p.m. at your assign polling location.  We are located in the courthouse in the Elections & Registrar’s Office Rm# 133. CALL FOR SPECIAL ELECTION TO FILL UNEXPIRED TERM OF CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

To be published in a newspaper of appropriate circulation- O.C.G.A. 21-2-2(3)

Notice is hereby given that, in accordance with O.C.G.A. 21-2-540, a special election shall be held in Wilkinson County to fill the vacancy in the office of Chairman of the Board, caused by the death of the Honorable Royce Brewer. The Special will be held on March 12, 2024.

  • Qualifying for the special election shall be held at with the prospective parties beginning at 9:00 am on January 2, 2024, and ending at 3:00 pm on January 5, 2024.
  • The qualifying fee shall be $234.00 pursuant to O.C.G.A. 21-2-131
  • All persons who are not registered to vote and who desire to register to vote in the special election may register through the close of business on February 12, 2024.
  • Early voting will be held at the Wilkinson County Courthouse during normal business hours. The dates of early voting will be February 19- March 8, 2024
  • Polls will be open from 7:00am until 7:00pm on Election Day.  Should a runoff be required, such runoff will be held on April 9, 2024.
