NOTICE: seeking Firefighter Recruitment and Retention Coordinator (filled as of 1/16/2024)
The Wilkinson County Board of Commissioners seeks to fill the position of a Firefighter Recruitment and Retention Coordinator.
Duties will include, but will not be limited to:
- Recruit individuals for volunteer firefighters by working with local organizations and school system
- Put in place programs to retain firefighters
- Coordinate initial and ongoing training opportunities for new and existing firefighters
- Researches and writes grants for additional funding for fire department; complete additional paperwork needed to maintain grant
- Recommends policy and procedure changes to improve department efficiency
- Plans for disaster drills and county emergencies
- Coordinate as needed with FEMA and GEMA for needed resources and services
- Other duties listed in complete job description
Minimum Training and/or Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in emergency management, emergency services, fire prevention and suppression, or a related field along with five years of responsible experience in fire suppression. Or any equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and experience which provides the requisite skills, knowledge, and abilities of the position.
- Possess a valid Georgia Motor Vehicle Operator’s license needed to operate vehicle or equipment being operated
- Maintain all needed fire and emergency management certifications

NOTICE: seeking applications for Appraisal I and Appraisal II (FILLED as of 9/20/2021)
Wilkinson County is currently accepting applications for Appraisal I and Appraisal II for the Wilkinson County Tax Assessor’s Office.
The position is responsible for appraising property, maintaining the property tax database and providing clerical support to the Tax Assessor’s office working under the direction of the Chief Tax Appraiser.
Salary is $14.41-16.31 depending on qualifications an hour with excellent benefits.
Applicants must be 21 years of age, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and have the ability to work with the public.
Applicants must have strong computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel and possess a GA driver’s license.
Successful applicant will need to achieve Appraiser I status within 12 months of hire as required by the State of Georgia and pass a drug screen.

The Wilkinson County Board of Commissioners is accepting applications for the full-time position of Superintendent of Elections and Registration.
Position is responsible for the conduct of elections, voter registration, budgeting and providing administrative support to the Board of Elections. Superintendent serves as the chair of the Board of Elections and Registrations.
Individual must possess computer skills, skills in Microsoft Office programs, interpersonal skills, be a resident of Wilkinson County, successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check, MVR check and otherwise be eligible to vote.
